A | (ECNS) -- The "Yangtze Journey Aurora," a new energy hybrid cruise ship, made its maiden voyage from Yichang Port in central China's Hubei Province on Wednesday, entering service on the classic Yichang–Chongqing route along the Yangtze River. The vessel is among China's first interprovincial cruise ships to feature an extended-range hybrid power system, boasting battery capacities of 2,580 kWh and a cruising range of 1,500 kilometers. Equipped with DC inverter air-conditioning and secondary energy recovery technology, the ship's air-conditioning system reduces energy consumption by 20%. It also features vibration- and noise-reduction systems as well as environmentally friendly shipbuilding materials, providing passengers with a quieter and lower-carbon cruising experience. New energy cruises have become one of Yichang's signature tourist attractions. In the first half of 2026, cruise routes in the city welcomed more than 3 million passenger trips. By promoting the operation of new energy vessels, the Yangtze River's Three Gorges region is reducing carbon emissions from waterborne tourism and supporting the green transformation of the Yangtze shipping industry. B | Colombo, Oct 9 (UNI) The Sri Lankan government is planning to pass new anti-corruption laws, local media reported on Sunday.
Under these laws, an Independent Commission would be established and its officers will be able to arrest suspects without a magisterial order or a warrant, local media reported, quoting the Attorney General's Department.
The new laws will also authorize the director-general of the Independent Commission to seek magisterial permission to unlock or unencrypt equipment suspected to be used in corrupt activities and provide information contained therein.
The bill also seeks to compel public officials to make periodic declarations of their assets and liabilities within and outside Sri Lanka.
